Kto bol Benjamin West?

Benjamin West (1738–1820) bol vplyvný anglicko-americký umelec a jeden z najvýznamnejších historických maliarov svojej doby. Narodil sa v Pensylvánii v USA, presťahoval sa do Anglicka a stal sa dvorným maliarom kráľa Juraja III. West je známy najmä svojimi monumentálnymi historickými a náboženskými maľbami, kde bol priekopníkom nového štýlu kombináciou tradičných kompozícií s modernými interpretáciami.
